Today, whether he likes it or not, is the birthday of Davin/Domey Malasarn. Perhaps he wanted this to be a secret, but a little bird told me all about it so the secret's out, Big D! So let's all wish him a happy birthday today. I have yet to meet Dr. Malasarn in real life, but he's still one of my absolute favorite people, and if only for that, this whole invention-of-the-internets thing is worthwhile.
Happy Birthday, Davin! XXXOOO
Sook sun wan gerd, Pee Domey!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mr. Bailey!
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you, Nevets. You better be careful. You're Thai is getting to be better than mine, and I'm slightly insecure.
Have a great birthday, Davin! Thanks for the heads up, Scott.
ReplyDeleteOoo...Happy Birthday! I hope you have a wonderful day. :-)
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday!
ReplyDeleteDavin,
ReplyDeleteGlad to have you above ground for another year!
Special J
Your gymnastics is still better than mine, so never fear!
ReplyDeleteI hope you're finding a relaxing way to celebrate. Maybe away from the computer...?
ReplyDeleteInteresting. I didn't know you guys didn't know each other in the real world. I guess more and more the Interwebz is the real world.
Since Domey has FB so restricted, I couldn't post on his Wall, but did send a message that bears repeating here: Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteS
Happy Birthday, Davin! Keep up the great work on the blog.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Domey! :) Have a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteHappy, Happy Birthday, Davin! If you were closer you know I'd buy you some dinner that involves curry. :D
ReplyDeleteI would buy him a big jar of cashews!
ReplyDeleteScott, I couldn't buy him that because by the time I got it to him I would have eaten them all. :(
ReplyDeleteScott and Davin, when we finally DO meet it means we have to go eat somewhere really expensively awesome to make up for all these birthday dinners and such. Or, we can just go eat somewhere nice just to eat somewhere nice. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for all of these birthday wishes, everyone!
ReplyDeleteJustus, I'm still above ground!
Scott and Michelle, I think when we meet we should cook for each other.
ReplyDeleteScott would make scones. Michelle would make curry with cashews. I'll make...hmmm...eel and goat stew.
I just wrote about goat meat in Thirds. That was interesting...
ReplyDeleteYes, we should cook for each other. In Scott's awesome kitchen.
Okay!
ReplyDeleteTell Mighty Reader we'll clean it all up, too. She can just enjoy our charming company. *laughs*
ReplyDeleteOh man, this Indian lady from Fiji made us a green-curry goat once. It was so good.
ReplyDeleteIt hit my stomach like lead Gaines-Burger, but it was delicious.
For the record, I've made no promises about cleaning up afterwards! I hate that part.
ReplyDeleteNevets, I don't think I've actually had goat yet. Eels, yes.
I will clean up, Davin. We'll call it a birthday present. ;)
ReplyDeleteNevets, that sounds divine. In "Thirds" goat meat is not divine.
ReplyDeleteMichelle, you just know I'll feel guilty and jump in. :)
ReplyDeleteOf course, Davin. :)
ReplyDeleteI would not expect the goat meat in Thirds to be divine.
ReplyDeleteOn multiple levels.
You and your clever choice of words.
And goat meat tastes pretty good, but definitely feels heavier and more laborious, even though it can be quite tender. At least in my limited experience.
Eels I've not had, curried, stuffed with cashews, or otherwise.
Nevets, do you eat sushi?
ReplyDeleteI eat some sushi, but I have to be careful about seafood and a lot of it around here has crab meat.
ReplyDeleteNo, Nevets, it's not divine on multiple levels... :)
ReplyDeleteAs far as sushi goes, I just ate a whole plate of sashimi. I have spent years building up to that enjoyment. :)
Veggie sushi is the way to go for me most of the time.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Domey!!
ReplyDeleteI am at a science(work) related conference right now, with a talk looming over my head (tomorrow)- so just popping in to wish you and then back to work..:)
Have a great day with lots of yummy food!
Lavanya
Good luck, Lavanya!
ReplyDeleteA happy birthday to you, sir!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Davin!
ReplyDeleteLOL @ Justus's comment.
...and sushi?
Yo. What everyone else said.
ReplyDeleteAlso, maybe I'll have massaman curry tonight in your honor. And if that's not actually a Thai dish, I'm going to look pretty silly for that comment....
Thank you, thank you, everyone.
ReplyDeleteSimon, that curry is very Thai. It's my favorite one actually! I make a mean curry. And, by "mean", I mean "tasty". And by "tasty", I mean "literary".
But are you writing "literary" fiction? We had curried squash soup last week. It was literary.
ReplyDeleteAs long as I can keep the quotation marks, I am willing to write "literary" fiction.
ReplyDeleteSorry I'm late to the party, but I did bring something that I save for really, really special people so now's the time...
ReplyDelete*pulls out kazoo*
bzzzz bzzzz bzzzzz bzzzzzz bzzzzzzz bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
bzzzz bzzzz bzzzzz bzzzzzz bzzzzzzz bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
bzzzz bzzzz bzzzzz bzzzzzz...
*pulls kazoo away from lips, takes deep breath*
Dear Doooomeyyyyyyyyy
*returns kazoo to proper location*
bzzzz bzzzz bzzzzz bzzzzzz bzzzzzzz bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!
And many, many many more.
hugs,
bru
Hi Bru,
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot! I don't think anyone has ever given me a kazoo birthday serenade before! :) :)
Sorry I'm late for the party. Happy Happy Birthday Davin, Domey, Dr. Malasarn.
ReplyDeleteWhen we meet at your conference in Rhode Island next year (I am wishful thinking here) I will take you to a great Thai place in Providence. I don't know if the goat is green but the curry is divine.
Many happy returns of the day.
This is belated perhaps, but Happy Bday anyway! I hope it was a great one :)
