The Notes From Underground Anthology is Available Now!

Grab it while it's hot! The Literary Lab's second annual publication is now out and ready for you to pick up!

We'd prefer our readers to purchase copies from the CreateSpace store. Although we don't mind at all if you prefer to go through Amazon, we do get a larger profit margin directly from the CreateSpace store, which means we get more money to donate to the Writer's Emergency Assistance Fund. Every cent of the proceeds for this anthology goes to charity.

**authors, if you'd like your name linked to your site, please let one of us know and we'll add it**

Entries were put into the anthology at random. Every author was amazing to work with, and we look forward to another anthology for the year 2011. We hope all of our readers will consider picking up a copy of the Notes From Underground Anthology not only to support your fellow authors, but to get your hands on some very fine work. The book is a beautiful testament to the wonderful writers we have the privilege to interact with every day here at the Literary Lab, and we want to say thank you to each and every one of you for making The Literary Lab what it is today.

[Scott interrupts Davin's wonderful post to say: Hey, we've been waiting for this day for months and months and, yes, months! And it's finally here! This anthology is full of strong, imaginitive writing and I can't find words enough to tell you how pleased and honored I am to have been part of this fabulous party. It amazes and humbles me to think that so many talented folks hang out in our little corner of cyberspace. Thanks to everyone who entered the contest, thanks again to the amazing and infinitely patient Becca for doing All The Hard Work during the first phase of the contest, and thanks in advance to everyone who buys a copy of this wonderful collection. Also thanks (yes, I watched the Academy Awards on Sunday night; why do you ask?) to all of our brilliant readers here at the Literary Lab. Without you, it's just the three of us whining about our inability to write good Miley Cyrus short stories. Nobody wants that. Anyway, we are pleased to release this anthology into the world and pleased that you all could be here for its birth. We've made a lovely child, folks.]

  1. Very nice. When we post links on our blogs, do you want us to emphasize your preference for Create Space? I trust my name is spelled right in the book.....oops.

  2. Oh, and yes, I would like a link to my site. Thanks!

  3. Guys, you've done such an amazing job on this book and thank you! I am truly honored to have worked with you, and to be included in this anthology with such talented writers.

I can't wait to hold the book in my hands.

    Thank you thank you!

  4. Congrats.

Came over from Nevine Sultan's blog. I'm glad that you chose to include her work. She is quite a promising author and a wonderful human being full of love and warmth. I congratulate the other writers as well.

    Keep up the good work.

    Joy always,

  5. Awesome :-)

And thanks for letting us know to go with Create Space. I would have been inclined to go with Amazon just because I've heard of it before (I don't get out much ;))

  6. Yay! And thank you for doing this.

Michelle, Scott, Domey and Becca -- You've worked so hard to bring this all together. A wonderful testimony to the brilliant authors and writers out there in cyberspace of which I am humbly a part. I can't wait to hold it in my little hands.

(And thank you to the cover artist whose name escapes me. It's a beautiful cover.)

  7. Yvonne: It's up to if you'd like to emphasize that. In the end it probably won't matter much. Sorry about your name! I've fixed it in the post.

Nevine: You're very welcome! Thank you for being a part of it!

Susan: Nevine is fantastic, and I love her story. Glad to see you here!

KLo: Amazon is totally fine, but we do make a few more dollars off CreateSpace, and that's always a good thing!

    Simon: Woot!

Anne: Me and Davin designed the cover, actually. Pretty nifty, eh? Tara was too busy with school, bless her heart. Hope you enjoy the book when you get it!

  8. I can't believe I get to not only have my story inside such a beautiful book, but among such amazing pieces of writing.

When I was copy-editing, I read a few others and was impressed. I can't wait to sink my teeth into the rest of it.

  9. Hooray, it's here! It's funny that the stories were placed in the anthology at random, because I was just looking through them thinking there was some kind of sophisticated thematic arc.

Maybe there is after all. Like how people can find deep meaning in a painting before they are told it was painted by an elephant's tail. Haha.

  10. Loren: Huzzah is right!

Nevets: Thank you for being a part of this! We're honored to have so many fantastic writers on board!

Genie: Hahaha, thematic arc, yeah. I'm the one who put it together, and I don't think I had enough brain power at the time to do that. Haha. Let's pretend there is!

  11. Awesome! Looks great! Link me, pretty please:)

  12. This looks fabulous!

Thanks to Lit Lab editors for a job well done.

I can't wait to have the book in my hands and read all the stories by my fellow authors properly!

I'm away in Umdloti at the moment but will start promoting the book when I get home next week.

    Judy Croome (South Africa)

  13. Great job with your 2nd annual anthology. Can't wait to get it. Thanks for making it available on Kindle, too. I know certain members of the lab aren't exactly e-book boosters. ;)

  14. I am so excited! I can not wait to read all the fantabulous stories! Thank you so much guys for putting this book together. Everythign about it is so unique.

(if you could put a link with my name that would also be fabaulous)

  15. Can't wait to read it! I hope Create Space can ship as fast as Amazon.

  16. How exciting!!

The only reason I am tempted to consider Amazon is because I'll have the book in my hands in 2 days!!..:) Maybe I'll get one from Createspace and one from Amazon.

    Great job on the cover!

I need to promote this on twitter and my blog but I always feel embarrassed promoting my stuff to people who are not my Mom, Dad or husband (what is wrong with me??!!- NEED to get over this)

  17. Thanks LitLab for all your hard work and willingness to try something daring! I'm so happy to be a part of it! :)

  18. Awesome list of authors :)

  19. Congratulations! I just bought my copy and look forward to reading it.

  20. Well, my order is in. Now I only have to wait three weeks to get the book. Yeah, I'm too cheap to pay for express delivery. That's all right, though, I have something to look forward to until the end of March. Besides wind, rain, mud and maybe some more snow. Is it ever gonna be motorcyclin' weather again??

  21. Chuck, I'm not elated about the shipping time either, but I think most of the delay is the time it will take to actually print and bind the book. That's the drawback to POD. But we promise you it will be be worth the wait!

  22. Of that, Mr. Bailey, I am absolutely certain.

  23. Shipping time for the e-book...approximately 7 seconds.

  24. You don't get a 6 x 9 trimsize on cream paper and a full-color wraparound cover with the ebook, though.

  25. Congrats to all the amazing writers that are a part of this anthology! I can't wait to get a copy!

  26. I am definitely going to buy this and read this stories! Keep up the good work; you guys are awesome! Are you going to do another anthology contest?

  27. Aimee: Absolutely! We're figuring out the details in the next few weeks. :)
