Really Really Cool and Awesome Mailing Lists

Hi everyone!

I just wanted to mention today that I created a mailing list for myself, and if you're interested in receiving the occasional newsletter from me you can sign up for it over on the right side of this page. Since I'm planning on publishing some of my own work in the upcoming months, I've been thinking it would be nice to have the list for announcements. (I think I'll be keeping the self-promo on this blog to a minimum.) I'll also be including other content that I hope is useful to both writers and readers. And, there will likely be prizes thrown in there somewhere as well.

You can also see over on the right that Lit Lab and Michelle both have mailing lists available. The Lit Lab mailing list will keep you updated on our annual writing contests and anthologies (and other projects that are currently in the works)!

Thank you very much to anyone who signs up. I really do appreciate your support. For those of you who have been with me from the beginning, you'll know that I've been thinking of self-publishing ever since I started this blog. I'm finally taking the plunge, and I'm grateful to anyone who thinks it's cool rather than stupid.

Finally, for those of you who didn't see on Facebook, I wanted to show off my nice new cannibal mug that Scott so kindly designed for me. Woohoo! I have yet to drink from it because I want my first time to be really special. Thanks, Baimonster!

  1. I confess that I didn't design the mug; I found it on the web and clicked the "purchase" button. Yes, I'm that sort of lazy-ass friend. I think I'll get a cannibal mug for myself; It would be awesome at the office. People would treat me just that much better.

Also, I have no mailing list.

  2. Scott, I'm even more of a lazy-ass friend since I've never sent Davin a cannibal mug. I #FAIL. I think I need to get one for myself, and when we all meet up (which WILL happen one day) we can drink the Lit Lab drink (mine nonalcoholic) together. :)

  3. On the other hand, Davin rocks as a friend. I just got his novella in the mail - The Boy Who Was All Alone. I can't wait to curl up and read it again. I loved it the first time. Thanks, Davin!

*this came in the mail because of shameless coaxing on my part...*

  4. Signed up! Thrilled to hear you'll be publishing!

Pretty big mug though. Hope it's for coffee only...

  5. Guys, I think we need to conspire and sneak coffee into Michelle's Cannibal mug ... I'm just saying ...

  6. Breanne, you will be struck down by lightning if you do that. I think. OK, that's a bunch of bull. Sadly, I think if I ever tried coffee I'd be 100% hooked. This is why I don't drink it. :)

  7. Ooh, a Soylent Green mug... nice.

  8. There will probably be no coffee going into my cannibal mug. I'm not a fun person when I drink coffee. I'm more like a paranoid freak when I drink it. It may have wine, though. I like to drink wine from a mug. I think that means I'm secretly a princess who was kidnapped by evil Thai parents and forced to live a normal life.

  9. Michelle, I'm glad you got the book safe and sound!

  10. Scott, you do too have a mailing list. It's the Lit Lab mailing list. :)

  11. Dude you totally spelled cannabis wrong.

  12. Dude, it's perfect just the way it is. Just go with the flow, man.

  14. Mug for coffee, wine, cannabis, non-alcoholic / decaffeinated drinks, and some other liquid substance that may or may not have a thick, gooey consistency...

I just read Bread, Davin. And I most definitely want to be kept up to date with your publishing adventures.

  15. Yat-Yee, thank you so much for reading it and for saying that! I really appreciate it. I plan to officially publish Bread with another crime related novella that Scott says is the best thing I ever wrote. :)

  16. Yat-Yee, I don't know if you care, but given what you said on our "Writer's Face" post the other day, this article might interest you. I'm reading it now. It's long.

  17. Yes, I am interested, Domey. I glanced at the article a little, and suspect he and I are not at the same place in the Asian-American spectrum, but I get what he's saying. And speaking of not being at the same place on the Asian American spectrum, I am also finally breaking down and reading Tiger Mother. It's taking a long time, because I keep stopping and write down my responses to what she's written.

  18. Excellent. Subscribed, and looking forward to reading your work (finally). :-)

  19. I hope you end up reviewing the Tiger book. I've lost all interest in it after reading several articles. I bet the book is better than it was portrayed to be, though.

  20. Domey, how exciting! Consider my blog if you do a blog tour. You can post whatever you want, an interview, philosophical musings, excerpt or LOL cats. Your choice. :)

I can't wait for you to publish so that I can start boasting to everyone that I know you.

  21. Tara Maya,
Thank you so much! That's so nice of you. I will definitely keep this in mind. My promotional campaign consists of this current blog post at the moment. I'll get more organized soon. :)

  22. Domey: I didn't realize the link you sent me has a whole series of interviews! I am reading them now. Thanks again.

  23. Yat-Yee,
I spent the morning reading them. It's one article but with several different people profiled. It was pretty interesting and also a little depressing.

  24. Been with you from the start and yeah, I always figured you'd self-publish. It isn't for me, but I can't wait to buy your book. Bought Michelle's and was thankful she had the success she did. Very well-deserved. I know you will be a success at it, my friend.

I signed up for your mailing list, Davin. I can keep better track of ya, that way.

(I want you to read my book about Christopher.) When I finish it, I'll send it to you. *promise* I would love to hear your thoughts.

  25. Robyn, you've definitely been here from the start and that means so much to me! You always figured I'd self-publish? You could have saved me a lot of time by telling me so earlier! ;p
